Five Lever Mortice Deadlock - conforming to British Standard number BS3621: 1998 for Thief Resistant Locks. A high security door lock that has been rigourously tested. It has a single 'dead' bolt that is locked and unlocked with a key. Embedded in the door for extra strength it provides exceptional security and is specified by many insurance companies. It offers excellent protection against all common forms of attack including lock picking, force, drilling, manipulation and hacksaw.
2 and 3 Lever Door Locks are similar locks but do not have the same strength and generally are not recognised by insurance companies and are not recommended for use on exterior doors.
Sash locks are like deadlocks, but have a built in latch which can be opened by handles. These locks are normally used on external and internal doors, certain types are recognised by insurance companies.
Night Latches are similar to the old 'Yale' type lock. It automatically locks on closing the door and is unlocked by a key from the outside and the handle inside. Some types can be deadlocked with the key when leaving the house, which prevents the inside handle from being released. This type of locking mechanism is normally accompanied by a dead lock, which should then be recognised by insurance companies. A high security night latch is available which conforms to BS3621.
